Research in special collections is relevant to studies in a variety of disciplines including history, journalism, political science, geography, fine art, art history and American studies. We encourage applicants to think creatively about new uses for special collections. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the greatest potential for publication and the best use of special collections at UNT Libraries.

Helen Hewitt, a musicological pioneer
Project Description
This is a biographical, historiographical inquiry into the musicological career of Dr. Helen Hewitt (1900-1977). I will focus on the Hewitt Research Collection in the hopes of better understanding the focus and impact of her research in and beyond her lifetime.
Biography
Dr. Stacey Jocoy is Associate Professor of Musicology at Texas Tech University, School of Music. She is an Early Modern specialist focused on the material culture, cultural politics, and historiography of the period. Her work has focused on intersections of music and politics, particularly during the English Civil War of the seventeenth century, on the careers of related composers and the music publisher, John Playford. She has presented internationally and has been the recipient of several awards, most notably from the Folger Shakespeare Library and the William Andrews Clark Library, UCLA.
