The University of North Texas Press was founded in 1987 and published its first book in 1989. Though it is the newest university press in North Texas (following SMU Press and TCU Press), it has quickly become a leading press with the most titles in print (more than 400) and published (18 to 20 each year). The UNT Press is a fully accredited member of the Association of University Presses. Its books are distributed and marketed nationally and internationally through the Texas A&M University Press Consortium.
The UNT Press collection in the UNT Digital Library consists of 450 books and journals including our most recent publications from Spring 2019. Nearly 100 of these titles are available for free worldwide open access. New titles include prize-winning poetry, the musical career of Alexander Tumanov, a back seat view of the Vietnam War, and more.
