Purpose:
The Undergraduate and Graduate Student Library Ambassador Boards provide a forum for discussion and suggestions regarding all aspects of the Libraries. Ambassadors work collaboratively with library faculty and staff to ensure library spaces and events are welcoming, supportive, and inclusive. Ambassadors may help identify and organize events and initiatives that promote student engagement and raise peer awareness of library services, resources, and programming.
Benefits of Being a Library Ambassador:
- Develop leadership skills by cultivating relationships with peers.
- Participate in extracurricular service.
- Gain valuable career readiness skills such as communication, leadership, professionalism, and teamwork.
Board Membership:
Students may apply for membership by filling out the Student Library Ambassador Board Membership Application. Membership terms are for one academic year. Board Advisors serve on the board(s) by appointment of the Associate Dean for Public Services from the library faculty.
Expectations:
- Meet once per long semester (Fall and Spring).
- Respond to calls for feedback from Board Advisors.
- Respond to meeting invites from Board Advisors by specified deadline.
- Share library information with peers in the University community.
- Act as a voice and conduit of students’ feedback as they relate to the Libraries.
- Provide recommendations on library services and related topics.
